SUP (stand up paddleboarding) is blowing up. A forward-facing, prone kayak, otherwise known as a bellyack made its debut this summer, and kayakers and open boaters are nailing first descents down gnarly sections proving progression on water is far from stagnant. This is why in Episode 106, we introduce, The Wet Spot. This segment and soon to be stand-alone podcast covers paddle sport news, events, flows, gear, and interviews with pro’s and industry reps. In this episode, we also covered traditional adventure news including the Southern Utah mountain man/burglar has moved to Sevier County, booby trap sentencing, Colorado 7-year-old contracts bubonic plague, someone dumped a deer in Sunset, Boo Boo recovering in Idaho, two Utah ski resorts to host US Sprint Grand Prix, a Seattle woman was too slow with bear spray during a grizzly attack, an elk caught in a hammock, and finally, land crabs – a tragic love story. - September 8th – The Amaizing Raise: 10k and 5k for charity begins at the best little resort in northern Utah–Wolf Mountain. The race winds its way through scenic rural Ogden Valley, past fields and horse pastures with stunning mountain views every step of the way. It returns via country roads to the HUB where the party begins. There will be a celebration of Ogden Valley non-profits with food, music, prizes and free fun for all. Come run with us, where the air is amazingly clean and the people are amazingly friendly.
- Thurs, Sept. 13th – Black Diamond Hosts 19th Annual Avalanche Fundraiser: With food from Rico Mexican Market, beer & wine and the live tunes of Herban Empire. There will also be the legendary silent auction to support the Utah Avalanche Center (UAC) as well as grand giveaways for those who purchase advance tickets. The festivities are set for Thursday, September 13, 2012, from 6-10pm at Black Diamond, 2084 East 3900 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
